A Note From Father Eickhoff

April 6, 2025

Christmas in our society gets all the attention. It is a holiday that creates the setting for countless movies and songs. There are cultural traditions such as Santa Claus and gifts. Easter on the other hand does not get all that much attention in our society. However, for Christians Easter is the more important day. Without the resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ there would be no reason to celebrate Christmas. We should take care to during Holy Week and Easter to take the time to praise God for all His gifts to us that come from the suffering, death, and resurrection of His Son. The gifts of the forgiveness of sins and the hope of everlasting life with God. I encourage everyone to attend as much as possible the liturgical celebrations of Holy Week and Easter.

The schedule for Holy Week and Easter is given below. Please note that on Holy Thursday, Good Friday, and Holy Saturday each day will begin with Morning Prayer in the church instead of Mass. Prayer booklets will be provided. Also note that on Holy Thursday there will be adoration of the Blessed Sacrament from the end of the Mass of the Lord’s Supper until midnight. Everyone is welcome to pray in the church during this time. There is also an old Catholic tradition of visiting nearby parishes on Holy Thursday night that you might want to try. A listing of nearby Catholic parishes will be provided next week.
