A Note From Father Eickhoff
September 15, 2024
This will be a quick bulletin article as I want to highlight some upcoming activities here in the parish that will be happening this Fall.
First, the parish pig roast will be happening on Sunday, October 27th between 12pm and 3pm in the parish hall. This is a popular event, and you will want to get your tickets as soon as they go on sale. Ticket sales will start the weekend of October 5-6 in the narthex after all the weekend masses. Tickets will be $5 per person. Cash or checks only.
Second, and not related to the parish pig roast, is the annual blessing of animals in honor of the feast day of St. Francis of Assisi on Saturday, October 5th at 10am. Animals of all sorts can be blessed. If you have a pet pig, I promise not to size him up for the pig roast. Please meet outside the church next to the bell tower.
Third, is the 2nd annual St. Anne Trunk or Treat on Friday, October 18th beginning at 5.30pm. The first event last year had a great turnout in both children and in families decorating their cars. I was really impressed last year with the creativity and effort that went into the transformation of a simple car or SUV into a showcase for their owner’s artistic talents. If you would like to volunteer for the event and/or have your vehicle as part of the display, please contact the Religious Education Office.
Fourth, those of you at the 11am Mass this Sunday will note that St. Anne is starting a Children Gospel Time during the Mass. During the Mass the children will be invited to the foot of the sanctuary to receive a blessing and then they will go to the parish chapel to explore the readings together. They will come back to the main church after the homily. Right now this program will run every other Sunday at the 11am Mass. As we get more volunteers to help run the program it will expand to include every 11am Mass as well as other Mass times. As you might guess volunteers are needed. If you would like to volunteer please contact the Religious Education Office.
Finally, next weekend (September 21-22) after all the Masses there will be volunteers from the various liturgical ministries (lectors, eucharistic ministers, altar servers, ushers) in the narthex with information about helping out in these important ministries in our parish. If you have thought of serving the parish through one of these ministries, next week will be a good time to find out how to do so.
Yours in Christ,
Fr. Stephen Eickhoff
Pastor
