A Note From Father Eickhoff

October 22, 2023

I want to highlight some upcoming activities here at St. Anne Parish that will be happening in the months of October and November.  The parish calendar continues to be busy with several major events that include both “fun” and “prayerful” programs.

Just before writing this bulletin article, I spent some time with Cathy Gillooly and Julie Krakora from the Religious Education Office helping them finalize details of the All Hallows Eve Bash that St. Anne Parish will be holding on Sunday, October 29 between 4.30pm and 6.30pm (and by “finalize” I mean that after they explained their plan, I said something like: “that’s a great idea, let’s do it”).  The response from the parish for volunteers to help decorate their cars and give out candy for the planned Trunk or Treat during the All Hallows Eve Bash has been excellent.  We can take more volunteers and cars though so if you would like to volunteer, please call the RE office right away.  The All Hallows Eve Bash will also feature games and an Italian food truck so that you can purchase dinner here on the premises. Halloween costumes are welcome.  The entrance fee to the event will be one nonperishable food item per person that will be donated to the food pantry.

Just a quick reminder that the Solemnity of All Saints is Wednesday, November 1.  This is a Holy Day of Obligation.  Masses will be held here at St. Anne at 7am; 12pm; 5.30pm; and 7pm.  Please note that the email that was sent out on Sunday, October 15 incorrectly had 8am instead of 7am.  The 7am Mass time is correct.

The next presentation of Presence: the Mystery of the Eucharist will be held on Tuesday, November 7.  Once again there will be two sessions offered.  The day session will meet in the parish hall between 9.30am and 11am.  The evening session will meet in the parish hall between 7pm and 8.30pm.  If you missed the first presentation, feel free to come to this presentation.  The presentations are designed to be largely independent of each other.  During this Year of the Eucharist, it is important to better develop our Catholic understanding and appreciation of the Holy Eucharist.  These presentations are a great way to do this.

Continuing the Eucharistic theme, St. Anne Parish will be hosting a large exhibit on the miracles associated with the Holy Eucharist from Friday, November 17 to Sunday, November 19.  And when I write “large exhibit” I mean a really, large exhibit.  From what I hear this exhibit will likely fill the entire parish hall with material showcasing the marvels that have come forth from the presence of God in the Holy Eucharist.  More details will be coming out soon, but make sure to mark your calendars now to come out and tour the exhibit next month.

Yours in Christ,

Fr. Stephen Eickhoff
