A Note From Father Eickhoff

By the time that you read this Bulletin article Easter Sunday will be less than one month away.  I  don’t think that anyone has ever said that the Season of Lent is “fun,” but time has sure seemed to fly right by this year.  Now is the time to recommit yourself to your spiritual preparations before the celebration of Holy Week and Easter.  I have a few hints as to what you might do:

  • The first hint is to go to Confession.  Confessions are heard here at St. Anne every Wednesday evening in the church between 7pm and 8pm.  Confessions are also heard on Saturday afternoons between 3.30pm and 4.30pm in the church.  There will also be a special opportunity for Confession on Saturday, March 25 between 2.30pm and 4.30pm. There will be two priests hearing Confessions at all times during those two hours in the church.
  • Taking the time for prayer is important during Lent.  There will be a special Eucharistic Adoration on Saturday, March 25 between 2pm and 5pm in the church. During these three hours there will be periods of silent prayer, music, and spiritual readings.  You can come to the entire three hours or just a part of the time.
  •  If you are unavoidably busy on Saturday, March 25 then you could also come to the regular times for Eucharistic Adoration.  Adoration is held on Wednesday evenings in the chapel between 7pm and 8pm as well as on Friday mornings in the church between 8.30am and 9am.

Make sure to put the liturgy of Holy Week on your calendar.  There are special Easter cards in the church with the primary liturgical events of Holy Week printed on the back.  Please feel free to take one for yourself and then take one or two more to give to others.  Holy Week is the defining liturgical and devotional time of the Christian Year.  It recreates for us the crucial aspects of our Christian faith; namely, the Last Supper, the Passion of our Lord Jesus Christ, and His resurrection.  Yes, it is more important than Christmas

Yours in Christ,
